Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Scripture Moment ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Scripture Moment application and website (together, "the Service").
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account name, email address, and profile picture. We use this to identify your account and display your name within the app.
Reading data
We store your reading plan selection, reading progress, completion records, and the dates of your readings. This data is tied to your account and is not shared with other users.
Notes and prayer summaries
Notes you write during or after readings are stored in your account and are private to you. Prayer summaries are part of the reading-plan content and may appear on the reading screen and in your history for completed readings.
Preferences and settings
Your selected plan, selected languages, timer drafts, and optional notification settings are stored with your account. Some display preferences, including theme, reading font/size, and whether Prayer, Time, Notes, or Bible links are shown on the reading screen, are stored on your device.
Operational data
Like most web services, our hosting and security systems may create server logs, security reports, and backup records needed to operate, protect, and restore the Service.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and provide access to your account
- To save your reading progress, notes, timer state, and supported account settings
- To send reminders at the time you configure in Settings (if enabled)
- To respond to support requests
- To improve the Service
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties except as needed to operate the Service (for example, cloud infrastructure providers) or as required by law.
Bible Gateway links
When you tap a Bible Gateway link, your browser opens Bible Gateway in a new tab. This is a direct link from your device to Bible Gateway's website. Scripture Moment does not pass your personal data to Bible Gateway. Bible Gateway's own privacy policy applies to your use of their site. The link is shown by default and can be hidden from Settings.
Google Sign-In
Authentication is handled through Google's OAuth service. We receive only the profile information Google provides (name, email, profile picture). We do not receive your Google password. Google's privacy policy governs the data you share with Google during sign-in.
Data retention
Your account data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes your profile, sessions, consent records, reading progress, timer drafts, notes, notification settings, and push subscriptions from the app database. Backup copies, server logs, or provider records may persist for a limited time according to normal security, recovery, and infrastructure practices.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, and restricted access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this document. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
